Kenya is as romantic and dramatic as it gets!

KENYA is home to the world's most magnificent wildlife parks, completely unsullied beaches, thriving coral reefs, memorable mountain scenery and ancient Swahili cities. Venerated by anthropologists as the cradle of humanity, Kenya is also home to the Masai Mara (a 320-sq-km reserve) which boasts the most diverse collection of wild animals on the African continent. No amount of National Geographic documentaries prepare you for it.

Why Kenya

It has the big cities and the bright lights. Nairobi, Kenya's capital city is cosmopolitan and lively and a great place to tune into modern urban African life. Mombasa, the largest port on the coast of East Africa, is hot, humid and historical. There are plenty of good hotels, restaurants and entertainment spots to choose from. Lamu is a gloriously relaxing destination. Kenya's oldest living town has changed little in appearance or character over many centuries.

Life in the Masai Mara follows its own pace and will. This is where you go if you want the thrill of being up, close and almost personal with a pride of lions or a tree full of baboons or a family of elephants. Stunning and dramatic is the only way to describe this holiday encounter And when experienced with your favorite person in the whole world, this is as close to heaven as you can get. A reserve rather than a national park (the Masai people are allowed to graze and hunt animals here), it includes a Masai village that's open to tourists. For a brilliant aerial overview of the Masai Mara and Serengeti, several lodges in the Masai Mara National Reserve offer balloon rides too.
